- Keep your distance from the net proportional to how likely or fast you'll need to run back for a lob. Don't get too close.
- If you've played badminton, practice a backhand hook (drop shot) cross-court to the net corner when the ball is high but too close to the glass for a bajada.
- Be cautious with shots that require the ball to bounce out for a bajada. Running back in time can be tricky, and opponents might reach the net before you do. Consider faking a bajada and then quickly converting to a lob.
You can practice this scenario on your own. Stand at your net position and lob a ball backward, making it high and deep. Ensure you can get to the glass to return it. If not, you might be too close to the net.
